After a partnership project launched in 2020, in 2021 Intesa Sanpaolo become Main Partner of Artissima. The fair and Intesa Sanpaolo share the idea that art is a fundamental driver to reactivate virtuous mechanisms of social dynamism and cultural enrichment.
The major investments in Torino and Piedmont of Intesa Sanpaolo, with the upcoming opening of a new facility of Gallerie d’Italia at Piazza San Carlo, join in the mission of Artissima, a public player in the foreground of the cultural life of the territory.
Vitality of time. The art collections of Intesa Sanpaolo
In the context of the 2021 fair, Gallerie d’Italia was on hand with a selection of important works, an emblematic representation of the quality and variety of the group’s collections of 20th and 21st century art. The exhibition, titled Vitality of time. The art collections of Intesa Sanpaolo, was curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, Associate Curator of the bank’s collections of modern and contemporary art.
Rimbalzi
During Artissima, another exhibition was presented, with the title Rimbalzi (meaning rebounds, ricochets), featuring images from the Archivio Publifoto Intesa Sanpaolo and from the photography section of the bank’s Historical Archives. The show is available online thanks to a dedicated digital platform, hosted at artissima.art from 3 November to 5 December: a large virtual wall on which to display the selected works, each with information on the context in which the photographs were taken.
The photography exhibition makes it possible to rediscover a piece of heritage, which with seven million photographs of historic events, political figures, lifestyle, society, culture, sport, landscape and architecture, made over the course of last century in Italy and abroad, provides a precise and thrilling narration of the history of that period. As the title indicates, the leitmotif of the selection of images will be the theme of the “rebound”, seen as a movement connected with a ball, an iconic object capable of crossing epochs and representing cultures, associated with the idea of play and sport – from tennis to football, basketball to rugby, as well as bocce, table football and golf. In the background we see children and senior citizens, amateurs or professional athletes, playgrounds, schools, courtyards, but also large stadiums where contests have taken place that have gone down in history: an evocative story of different generations and historical moments, in which play becomes a catalyst and activator of human relations. Rimbalzi is also a tribute to the Nitto ATP Tennis Finals that are taking place for the first time in Torino during the month of November.
